Over £530 Raised for Fell Rescue.

Nidderdale Moorland Group

We were pleased to catch up with Martin, our local Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association member last week, and to hand over £530 raised during the season for the fell rescue.

Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association has been rescuing both people and animals in distress from the moorlands and cave systems around Wharfedale, Nidderdale, Littondale and Mid-Airedale for over 70 years.

They are the regularly called out to assist with the safe of retrieval and first aid for many casualties in remote areas and also in the search for missing people and, as a voluntary organisation rely on donations to help keep this vital service running.

U.W.F.R.A have also kindly attended our 'Lets Learn Moor' events for primary school children over several years and are a firm favourite with the visiting schools as the children learn about their vital work and how to rescue a teacher from the moor.

For those of us who live, work or visit the countryside, the Fell and Mountain rescue associations across the country form a vital part of our emergency services and we are pleased to be able to support their work.
