What a hoot!

Peak District Moorland Group

The early morning patrols of our moorland gamekeepers, on these dark and wet mornings, are made far more bearable when they include close encounters with beauties such as this Barn Owl.

We have seen a huge expansion of breeding Barn Owl in the Peak District over the years, unfortunately prolonged periods of wet weather in the winter can have a detrimental effect on numbers due to natural mortality.
