Second the best!

Peak District Moorland Group

A big thank you to everybody that stopped by our tent and asked the many question's about the work we do on our "managed for grouse shooting" moorland in the Peak District.

From just turning up to shows with a tent and a table, when we started in 2015, we now have two tents, vegetation displays, moorland wildlife, firefighting equipment, activities for children and the chance to eat wild grouse harvested from a Peak District moor from Friday - along with 'keepers on hand to answer questions.

Robert Largan, our High Peak MP dropped by - interested as always on any issues we are encountering (great to have such an engaged MP in our area).

Had long discussions with Hope Valley Climate Committee - suddenly consented management fires don't appear to be the evil tool, as portrayed by some, in comparison to the alternative which can be peat destroying summer wildfires?

A large number of Ornithologists discussing the ongoing plight of our red listed waders in areas away from good management techniques.

And for the children who took part in the curlew colouring competition, we will be posting our favourites later in the week.

It was lovely to see Hope Show being so well attended and we picked up a 2nd place rosette for our stand

Big thanks to the PDMG team that helped out to make it such a success
