Miracles do happen!

Peak District Moorland Group

Avid followers will remember we shared a plea to keep a lookout for the Crowther family’s Spaniel, Meg.

Meg went missing on Saddleworth Moorland area on the 28th August.

Extensive searches revealed no clues, and the Mountain Rescue Team also joined in. Everyone feared the worst had happened and they would not see her again.

In a last ditch attempt Claire Crowther – farmer, gamekeeper and dog handler – took her Wirehaired Vizla, Dash, out for a search.

Amazingly Dash marked a deep peat runner (sink hole) and barked into it. Claire heard an answering bark and after alot of scrabbling was able to pull Meg out of what would otherwise have been her peat lined grave.

What an amazingly happy result for Meg and all the Crowthers. From all the Peak District community, we applaud Dash and Claire.
