Game for cooking with the WI

Nidderdale Moorland Group

One of our moorland gamekeepers spent an enjoyable afternoon last week with the ladies of one of our local WI groups.

With various game species now back in season, and others such as Rabbit available at other times of year, we were invited to Grantley WI to show their members how easy game is to prepare and cook.

Red Grouse, wild duck, partridge, wood pigeon and rabbit were all prepared during the afternoon before a taste of game session.

Game is a healthy meat which is high in protein, low in fat, sustainable, free range and locally produced keeping food miles low. Full of flavour, it is also versatile and easy to cook.

It was lovely to receive feedback yesterday from the ladies attending the afternoon.
