The Ripley Show!

Nidderdale Moorland Group

Wow, what a hot day!

It was a busy day on our stand at Ripley Show.

It was great to meet and talk to so many visitors to the show throughout the day, including children and their parents who had attended this years 'Let's Learn Moor' at the beginning of July and to hear how the children had enjoyed their day on the moors and remembered what they had learnt.

We also had some smaller visitors during the day as our display attracted Honeybees, Bumble bees, wasps and butterflies to feast on the nectar and pollen on some of our moorland plants, (alongside the children picking and eating the Bilberries!).

Tasting our local Heather honey was once again popular, and another fabulous produce of our managed moorlands at this time of year.

Wildfires, controlled cool burning, moorland management, predator control, Curlews and Barn Owls were just some of the topics of the day.
