It’s show time
Nidderdale Moorland Group
After a quick date change Nidderdale Show returned to Pateley Bridge on Sunday.
The show is a traditional Dales agricultural show which offers visitors the chance to browse wonderful displays from many different exhibitors, trade stands and local producers.
The show is also a great opportunity for our moorland gamekeepers to meet and talk to members of the public and explain their role in maintaining our iconic landscapes and the wildlife they support.
From controlled, legal cool burning and cutting of vegetation to wildfire mitigation, carbon capture and rewetting the moorlands through grip blocking, to predator control and its vital role in protecting some of our most threatened species such as the iconic Curlew alongside the Red Grouse, members of the public were able to speak first hand with the moorland gamekeepers and gain a better understanding of their daily work.
With plenty of activities for children, a very popular taxidermy display of moorland wildlife, and plenty cups of tea and coffee on offer, it was a busy day from early morning to teatime with what appeared to be a record attendance for the return of Nidderdale Show.
