Extinguished.

North Yorkshire Moors Moorland Group

A discarded cigarette looks like it was the cause of this wildfire on the #NorthYorkMoors yesterday. It wasn’t an easy one to bring under control as it was down a steep hillside where machinery couldn’t get to.

We would ask that everyone is extra vigilant in disposing of any litter, glass bottles and cigarette ends in the correct places.

It was lucky that this fire was spotted relatively early as it would have definitely been much worse for the wildlife and landscape had this escalated and spread any further.
